Jakarta, 3 February 2026 – Creative Economy Minister / Head of the Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya (Ekraf) received an audience from representatives of Kota Cinema Mall (KCM) to discuss collaboration opportunities in expanding cinema screen coverage in Indonesia, particularly in districts and cities. The meeting is part of efforts to strengthen the regional-based national film ecosystem.
Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya received representatives of Kota Cinema Mall (KCM) at the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency office in Jakarta on Tuesday (3/2/2026).
KCM offers a stand-alone cinema concept with integrated facilities within a single area, including screening rooms, food concession areas, a multipurpose stage, as well as outdoor spaces and playgrounds. This model is considered capable of providing added value while addressing the limitations of cinema screen infrastructure outside major cities.
Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya noted that KCM’s vision aligns with the government’s policy direction in making the creative economy a new engine of national economic growth, starting from the regions. Exploring this collaboration is considered a strategic solution to address challenges in the distribution and accessibility of national films at the district and city level.
“Our President pays special attention to our film industry. He wants screen access to be evenly distributed so that the public can enjoy films easily and comfortably,” said Teuku Riefky after the meeting on Tuesday (3/2/2026).
He added that opening cinemas in districts and cities through collaboration with KCM is part of addressing the challenges of the creative economy ecosystem within an integrated hexahelix approach.
“This collaboration is a concrete effort to strengthen the creative economy value chain from upstream to downstream,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kota Cinema Mall Director Edy Nugroho explained that KCM adopts a different approach compared to other cinema chains. KCM is currently present in seven locations, including Bekasi, Pamekasan, Tabalong, Gresik, Belda, and Jember. KCM not only develops stand-alone cinemas, but also engages communities as a foundation for developing activities and programs.
“This concept is expected to provide a creative public space that not only functions as a place for watching films, but also serves as a hub for community interaction, performances, and local creative activities in the regions,” he explained.
