Jakarta, June 5, 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy (MoCE) held a Leadership Meeting at the Pesona Indonesia Film Building in Jakarta on Thursday, June 5, 2025, as a strategic step to strengthen its institutional role in accelerating the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy sector.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the importance of enhancing the Ministry’s performance through the optimal use of data as a basis for policymaking, along with targeted program curation. He also underlined the need for cross-sectoral synergy to address industry challenges, particularly through the concrete follow-up of signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
“An MoU is not just ceremonial. It should mark the beginning of a strengthened network, especially in regions where creative economy institutional structures already exist. Currently, eight provinces have established dedicated creative economy departments, while 14 others are in coordination to do the same,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.
One of the key impacts of the Ministry’s presence has been the increase in realized investment in the creative economy sector. Based on data from the Directorate of Data and Information at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, using five primary Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) codes, realized investment in the creative economy in 2024 reached IDR 162.6 billion, a significant increase from IDR 99.5 billion in the previous year. The highest growth occurred in Q4 2024, with investment reaching IDR 52.1 billion.

The 2024 figures were calculated using five main KBLI codes in the creative economy sector:
74130 – Graphic Design Activities
74141 – Design for Film, Video, Animation, and Comics
74142 – Digital Game Content Design
74149 – Other Creative Content Design
74201 – Photography Activities
Starting in 2025, the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Creative Economy, will adopt KBLI 2020, encompassing 238 creative economy KBLI codes. In Q1 2025, realized investment from 69,152 projects reporting Investment Activity Reports (LKPM) amounted to IDR 43.2 trillion, equivalent to 31.7% of the 2025 annual target of IDR 136.28 trillion.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky stressed that all roles, programs, and activities of the Ministry must be aligned toward positioning the creative economy as a primary driver of national growth.
“Work with a spirit of collaboration, a strong sense of responsibility, and the courage to take bold leaps. The creative economy must be the new engine of Indonesia’s economy,” he asserted.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, Principal Secretary Dessy Ruhati, and other senior officials (Echelon I and II) within the Ministry.
