Ministry of Creative Economy Strengthens International Creative Industry Network through JAFF Market 2025

Yogyakarta, 29 November 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is committed to strengthening the film, animation, and video ecosystem through active support and participation in the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market 2025. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya commended the consistency of JAFF Market in assisting local Intellectual Property (IP) to move up to higher levels.

Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, menyampaikan keynote speech pada acara di Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market 2025, Yogyakarta, Sabtu (29/11/2025).

“JAFF Market is not merely a meeting space, but a collaborative bridge that strengthens the adaptation of IP into films and series. It opens new commercial opportunities for creators while reinforcing the industry’s value chain,” said Minister Riefky on Saturday, 29 November 2025.

JAFF Market 2025, held at Jogja Expo Center, Yogyakarta from 29 November to 1 December 2025, featured six programs: JAFF Future Project, Content Market, Talent Day, Film & Market Conference, Market Screening, and Film Lab. The event serves as a strategic platform for IP creators and Indonesian film industry players to collaborate, network, and meet investors to promote the commercialization of works in regional and global markets. In its second year, JAFF Market has become the most influential film market in Southeast Asia.

During the 2024 edition, JAFF Market achieved significant milestones, attracting participants from countries including South Korea, the Netherlands, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Malta. The total economic impact reached IDR 36 billion, with contract values totaling IDR 18.5 billion, demonstrating JAFF Market’s strategic role in attracting investment in the film sector. The event also drew over 6,723 visitors, hosted 151 exhibition booths, and held 1,767 business meetings. At the same time, 61 MoUs were signed, further solidifying JAFF’s role as a catalyst for national and international film industry growth and new job creation.

“In line with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita No. 3, the government focuses on increasing quality employment, including in the creative industry. This sector has proven its contribution in generating quality jobs, driving exports, attracting investment, and enhancing its contribution to GDP,” he added.

For JAFF Market 2025, the Ministry of Creative Economy supported the Content Market program by presenting 10 curated IP works from Indonesian creators to industry stakeholders. The IPs included Amurva, Elang Hitam, Glommy Sunday, Jemawa Yanti, Journal Of Terror, Meng, Sangkakala Di Langit Andalusia, Tabi, The Summoning, and World Without Sleep, fostering the adaptation of books, comics, games, and original works into competitive audiovisual content for global markets.

This year’s JAFF Content Market also featured the signing of MoUs for the development of two Indonesian IPs: Tikam Samurai with BushiBros, and Locust with LMN VFX, marking a concrete step toward accelerating national IP development into advanced production stages.

Minister Riefky emphasized the importance of these collaborations as a testament to the trust in Indonesian creators’ quality.

“The signing of these MoUs demonstrates that Indonesian IP is competitive and ready to be developed into high-value audiovisual works. We hope such collaborations will continue to expand so that more national IP can enter international markets,” said Minister Riefky.

Minister Riefky Visits Creative Booths at JAFF Market

In addition to attending the MoU signing, Minister Riefky visited several participating booths to review creative initiatives developed by industry players.

One notable booth was Wahana Kreator, showcasing scene activities—a collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and Wahana Edukasi—focused on supporting writers to produce high-quality, commercially viable scripts.

The Minister also visited the Metra TV x Ekraf booth, which displayed creative acceleration programs in the film subsector, and the Asosiasi Industri Animasi dan Kreatif Indonesia (AINAKI) booth. The Ministry’s collaboration with AINAKI aims to strengthen promotion of Indonesian animation IP to broader markets, reinforcing Indonesia’s position as a potential player in the regional animation industry.

During his visit, Minister Riefky also explored a booth displaying classic analog cinema cameras, showing enthusiasm for historical film technology. He further visited the JAFF Market Content booth, highlighting 10 local IPs poised to enter the next level of development.

His presence added vibrancy to JAFF Content Market and reinforced the government’s commitment to supporting the growth of the national creative industry through collaboration, facilitation, and the development of IP as a future economic asset.

The Ministry of Creative Economy also participated in the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) 2025, held from 29 November to 6 December at Empire XXI Yogyakarta, to strengthen the capacity of film, animation, and video subsector practitioners. Collaborating with Produksi Film Negara (PFN) through the EKRAF x PFN booth, the Ministry activated the festival as a space for film communities nationwide to share works, broaden knowledge, and strengthen creative networks. This facilitation aims to support the growth of film communities as a crucial foundation for the national film ecosystem.

During the event, the Ministry published schedules, materials, and speakers for coaching clinics through official channels and opened registration for festival visitors. The initiative provides broader learning access for creators, particularly regarding creative processes, distribution, and audiovisual project development, forming part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to strengthen creator competencies from ideation to production readiness.

This connectivity is key to sustaining the film, animation, and video industries, while enabling adaptation of national IP into competitive audiovisual formats regionally.

Minister Riefky stressed that JAFF 2025 represents a strategic momentum for creative industry players to expand networks and advance their works.

“We hope this event becomes a catalyst for new works through regional and global collaboration, while strengthening Indonesia’s film, animation, and video ecosystem as a competitive driver of the creative economy,” said Minister Riefky.
