Ministry of Creative Economy Strengthens National Craft Ecosystem through “Ragam Kriya Nusantara: EKRAF x PENDOPO”

Bogor, 29 November 2025 – To strengthen the ecosystem and boost exports of Indonesian craft products, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency in collaboration with Pendopo Indonesia organized “Ragam Kriya Nusantara: EKRAF x PENDOPO.” In his remarks, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the commitment of the Ministry, noting that the craft subsector is projected to become a new driver of national economic growth.

Deputi Bidang Kreativitas Budaya dan Desain Yuke Sri Rahayu, menjadi salah satu narasumber pada rangkaian kegiatan Ragam Kriya Nusantara: EKRAF x PENDOPO yang berlangsung di Living World Kota Wisata, Jakarta, Sabtu (29/11/2025).

“The craft subsector holds strategic potential and can serve as a new engine of growth for Indonesia. Creative talent is a vital asset that must continue to be supported,” said Minister Riefky during the event at Living World Kota Wisata, Jakarta, Saturday, 29 November 2025.

The program, held from 26 to 30 November 2025, was designed as a platform for craft practitioners to upgrade their skills, expand market access, and enhance production capacity. The initiative was implemented by the Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity.

“Through this collaboration, we provide craft practitioners with opportunities to scale up, access wider markets, and present high-value products that remain rooted in Nusantara culture,” added the Minister.

Yuke Sri Rahayu, Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity and keynote speaker during the talk show, highlighted the crucial role of the craft subsector in strengthening the creative economy. “Particularly through improving quality, innovation, and product readiness to enter broader markets,” she said on Friday.

The talk show also featured two prominent craft practitioners, F. Widayanto, founder of F. Widayanto Gallery, and Thio Siujinata, founder of Craftote, who shared their experiences on creative processes, industry challenges, and the importance of preserving craft identity while remaining relevant in modern markets.

The speakers emphasized the importance of innovation, brand identity, production quality, and business sustainability as foundations for making Indonesian craft products more competitive nationally and globally.

In addition to the talk show, Ragam Kriya Nusantara: EKRAF x PENDOPO featured a mini exhibition showcasing selected products from participants of the Directorate of Craft program, as well as interactive workshops—ranging from bag charm making, mini wall décor, keychain decoration, to resin crafting—to engage the public with the creative process and increase appreciation for the craft subsector.

Putu Laura, Head of Pendopo, stated that the organization shares the same vision as the Ministry of Creative Economy in providing wider space for craft practitioners to showcase their work. “Through this synergy, we hope local brands can gain greater recognition, stronger market access, and continue developing quality and business sustainability,” she said.

As part of government support, the event aligns with the Asta Ekraf policy framework, emphasizing the strengthening of business ecosystems, expanding market access, enhancing practitioners’ capacity, and leveraging creativity to boost the competitiveness of creative subsectors across Indonesia.

The program was attended by 70 participants, including craft subsector practitioners and members of the public with an interest in the creative industry. The presence of Pendopo Indonesia as a strategic partner is expected to open broader retail market access for the facilitated craft practitioners.

Director of Craft, Neli Yana, emphasized in her report that collaboration between government and retail industry is a key step in enabling commercialization and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian craft products.

“Through this program, we hope more craft products will have the opportunity to reach wider markets while simultaneously strengthening a sustainable creative ecosystem,” she explained.

With the successful implementation of this program, the Ministry of Creative Economy aims to further develop the significant potential of the craft subsector, creating tangible economic impacts—through increased exports, expanded creative employment opportunities, and a stronger Indonesian craft identity in the global market.
