Jakarta, June 25, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency and Coda Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Indonesia’s gaming industry ecosystem. Through this partnership, both parties will collaborate on talent development, industry capacity building, promotion of local games, and expanding global market access for Indonesian game developers.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar emphasized that Indonesia has tremendous potential to become a major player in the global gaming industry. According to her, Indonesia is not only a market for games but also a hub for creative talent, game developers, and esports athletes capable of competing on the international stage.
“Indonesia is not just a market. Indonesia is a place where great games are built and where great esports players are born. Therefore, I hope Coda will support this initiative. In the near future, we will see how we can conquer the world with games that bring joy to people everywhere,” said Irene Umar at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta on Thursday (June 25).

The MoU was signed by Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at the Ministry of Creative Economy, and Shane Happach, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coda, in the presence of Deputy Minister Irene Umar.
Under the agreement, both parties will collaborate on the implementation of priority programs, human resource development, facilitating participation of digital industry players in business-to-business (B2B) forums, promoting Indonesian digital products and talent, and developing incubation and acceleration programs.
The partnership also covers the exchange of industry insights, collaborative use of facilities and infrastructure, as well as the development and protection of intellectual property in the digital and creative technology sectors.

Coda CEO Shane Happach reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s gaming industry through initiatives that help local developers reach broader markets.
“We believe Indonesia already has strong local creativity and a large gaming community. Through this partnership, we can work together to further develop both the gaming industry and the broader digital economy. I hope we can provide even greater support to local developers and players, as this is extremely important,” said Shane.
Coda Indonesia is part of Coda Payments, a Singapore-based digital payments technology company specializing in the gaming and digital content industries.

The event was also attended by Luat Sihombing, Director of Games at the Ministry of Creative Economy; Sabar Norma Megawati Panjaitan, Director of Architecture and Design; Liz Adam, VP of Corporate Affairs at Coda; and Shafiq Husein, CEO of Gambir Studio.
