Banda Aceh, 18 April, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is strengthening the capacity of Indonesian architects in addressing multi-disaster risks while promoting the transformation of architectural practices to become more adaptive and technology-driven. To this end, the Ministry of Creative Economy presented the Architecture Acceleration Workshop (AAW) as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction, Resilience & Recovery (DR3) International Conference on Natural & Human Disasters 2026.
The Ministry of Creative Economy, through the Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design, presented the Architecture Acceleration Workshop (AAW) as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction, Resilience & Recovery (DR3) International Conference on Natural & Human Disasters 2026 in Banda Aceh on Saturday (April 18, 2026).
The workshop also opened avenues for cross-country collaboration, particularly within the ASEAN region and at the global level, by incorporating both local and international perspectives in developing resilient and sustainable architecture. The Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu, emphasized that resilience must become an integral part of the national architectural ecosystem, not merely a design concept.
“Resilience is not only a design concept, but must also become a policy framework, a business framework, and a professional practice framework. Moving forward, we need architects who are not only responsive to disasters, but also capable of anticipating, designing systems, and creating economic value from resilience solutions themselves,” she said on Saturday (April 18).

DR3 Aceh 2026 is an international forum organized by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and marks its first time being held in Indonesia. The forum addresses issues of disaster risk reduction, resilience, and post-disaster recovery within the context of architecture.
In its implementation, the AAW was attended by approximately 100 participants from various architectural stakeholders. It was divided into two main themes, namely Local Perspectives – Practices in Indonesia and Global Perspectives – Collaboration & Sharing of Expertise Beyond Borders, each consisting of three discussion sessions.
