Ministry of Creative Economy Strengthens Synergy with OJK and Ministry of Finance to Support Capital Access for the Creative Industry

Jakarta, March 21, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the Ministry is currently working together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Ministry of Finance to strengthen capital access for the creative industry, particularly the digital sector.

"We are in discussions with OJK regarding funding mechanisms for digital companies, such as game and application developers. Access to capital remains a major challenge for them, so we need a more inclusive financing model that aligns with the needs of the creative industry," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky in a statement after attending the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency has established a team to discuss policies that favor creative economy practitioners, supporting the growth of Indonesia’s digital-based industries.

In addition to collaborating with OJK, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance regarding valuation services for Intellectual Property (IP) owners. According to Riefky, IP owners still face challenges in accessing funding due to the lack of adequate indicators to make IP a bankable asset.

"Currently, we are refining regulations regarding IP valuation services so that IP owners can have easier access to financing. We will continue discussions with the Ministry of Finance to ensure the establishment of specialized valuation services that can increase the economic value of IP," explained Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

Furthermore, Minister of Creative Economy Riefky emphasized that the Ministry is aligning various regulations to strengthen the creative industry as a sector that can create quality jobs, especially for the younger generation.

"We know that unemployment in Indonesia is largely driven by those under 40 years old. Meanwhile, the creative industry holds significant potential in opening up job opportunities that align with the interests and talents of young people," he added.

In addition to human resources, Minister of Creative Economy Riefky also highlighted the need to foster a good ecosystem to create new unicorns. By creating quality jobs and human resources, the creative economy will continue to grow.

"In the future, we hope to see more new unicorns emerge from the creative industry in Indonesia. The right regulatory support and cross-sector collaboration are the key to making this happen," he concluded.

Under the leadership of Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency targets the creation of 27 million jobs, particularly for the youth, over the next five years, with the goal of creating high-quality employment opportunities.

Assisted by Irene Umar as Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Minister of the Creative Economy Agency, Minister of Creative Economy Riefky is encouraging the 17 creative economy subsectors to realize the Prabowo-Gibran vision and mission, specifically Asta Cita number 3, which aims to increase quality employment, foster entrepreneurship, and develop the creative industry.

Through strengthening the ecosystem in a hexahelix framework, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is expected to become the "new engine of growth" for the national economy, starting from the regions.
