Jakarta, May 11, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing the national creative economy through strengthening business capacity, expanding market access, and developing intellectual property (IP). These issues became the focus of discussions during an audience with the Indonesian Alumni Association of the United States (ALUMNAS).
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with the Indonesian Alumni Association of the United States (ALUMNAS) at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, Monday (11/5/2026).
“The Eight Creative Economy Missions open up many opportunities for collaboration. What remains is identifying which sectors hold the greatest potential to be developed together,” said the Minister of Creative Economy while receiving ALUMNAS at the Autograph Tower Building, Jakarta, Monday (11/5).
During the meeting, the Minister outlined the Ministry’s current focus on accelerating the growth of creative businesses so they can progress from the startup stage to becoming empowered and independent enterprises. These efforts are carried out through curation, IP strengthening, scaling-up access, promotion, and expanded market networks.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of cross-subsector collaboration within the creative economy ecosystem. According to him, subsectors such as film, design, publishing, animation, and merchandise can be interconnected to create greater economic added value while broadening monetization opportunities for local creative works.
“Many Indonesian young people have already created strong creative IPs. The challenge now is how these IPs can be monetized and developed into sustainable creative economy products,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.
Meanwhile, ALUMNAS Chairman Jimmy Gani explained that ALUMNAS is an organization for Indonesian alumni of educational institutions in the United States that has been active for more than 40 years and officially obtained legal entity status in 2021. The organization brings together professionals from various fields, including academics, entrepreneurs, professionals, and public figures, who share a common commitment to contributing to national development.
“We want to contribute together to the nation through the global networks and experiences possessed by ALUMNAS members,” said Jimmy.

Jimmy added that ALUMNAS is ready to support creative economy development through mentoring programs, business forums, young talent development, and business assistance initiatives. According to him, one of the main challenges currently faced by MSMEs is maintaining product quality while scaling production capacity, making stronger curation, business mentoring, and integrated financing access increasingly important.
The audience marked an initial step in exploring collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and ALUMNAS to strengthen a global network-based creative economy ecosystem, ranging from local IP development and acceleration of creative businesses to cross-subsector collaboration capable of generating greater economic value for society.
