Ministry of Creative Economy Supports Economic Recovery in Padang Pariaman Post-Disaster

Jakarta, 6 May, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, discussed synergy programs for the development of priority creative economy subsectors with Regent of Padang Pariaman, John Kenedy Azis. The audience was a follow-up to the Ekraf Peduli Program that had previously been implemented in early 2026 in Padang Pariaman.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with Regent of Padang Pariaman, John Kenedy Azis, at the Ministry of Creative Economy office, Jakarta, Wednesday (May 6, 2026).

“In implementing poverty alleviation efforts, the Ministry of Creative Economy has proposed programs related to creative villages and strengthening creative hub activations that focus on training, business mentoring, as well as facilitating market access and financing. These are important instruments to create employment opportunities and improve community welfare,” said the Minister of Creative Economy during the audience held at the Ministry of Creative Economy office, Jakarta, Wednesday (May 6).

The Minister of Creative Economy also designated West Sumatra as one of the 15 priority locations for creative economy development as well as an area for accelerated post-disaster recovery. Under the Ekraf Peduli Program, three directorates within the Ministry of Creative Economy have implemented programs, including the Directorate of Games through cheerful and creative board game activities for trauma healing (March), the Directorate of Advertising through AKTIF Native Advertising (April), and the Directorate of Digital Content through affiliator training (May).

“Through creative economy interventions, the Ministry of Creative Economy not only drives economic growth, but also contributes to reducing poverty rates. With the right collaborative approach, communities in Padang Pariaman can achieve more stable and sustainable income,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

During the meeting, the Regent of Padang Pariaman conveyed the latest condition of the region, which is still facing the impacts of the disaster, including damaged road infrastructure and declining community productivity. The Regent emphasized the importance of economic empowerment programs that can be immediately realized on the ground.

“On this occasion, we submitted several proposals so that communities affected by floods and landslides several months ago can rise again, especially those who lost their livelihoods, agricultural land, and workplaces. We seek guidance and sustainable program support from the Ministry of Creative Economy,” said the Regent of Padang Pariaman.

The audience also discussed several concrete initiatives expected to receive facilitation from the central government, including the utilization of the Nagari Creative Hub in Padang Pariaman to create business opportunities.

“We also extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Creative Economy for conducting various training programs in Padang Pariaman Regency, demonstrating attention that has helped the community. The most important thing we are currently pursuing is the growth and improvement of the community’s economy,” added the Regent of Padang Pariaman.

During the audience, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky was accompanied by Expert Staff to the Minister for Financing Restog Krisna Kusuma, Expert Staff for Infrastructure and Marketing Septriana Tangkary, Director of Infrastructure Facilitation Fahmy Akmal, Ministerial Expert Staff for Strategic and Inter-Institutional Issues Gemintang Kejora Mallarangeng, Ministerial Expert Staff for Media Monitoring and Public Opinion Hasbil Mustaqim Lubis, and Ministerial Expert Staff for Media Rocklin Aprilius Anderson.

Meanwhile, accompanying the Regent of Padang Pariaman were Head of the Padang Pariaman Tourism, Youth and Sports Office Anton Wira Tanjung and DPR RI Expert Staff Yudi Dharma.
