Sumedang, 29 September 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy reaffirmed its commitment to promoting regional creative economy initiatives, highlighting the Festival Pesona Jatigede 2025, held from 19 to 28 September 2025 in Sumedang, West Java.

With the theme “From Land to Culture: Jatigede for the World,” the festival is considered part of a collective movement to strengthen cultural identity, promote creative economy, and position Jatigede as a world-class tourism magnet. The Ministry of Creative Economy demonstrated support for the festival as tangible proof of government commitment to harness the creative potential of Sumedang Regency while fostering synergy and collaboration between central and local governments to advance people’s economy.
“International sporting events like this can open doors to expanding networks, showcasing cultural identity, and generating new economic opportunities,” said Secretary of the Ministry/Main Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Dessy Ruhati, during the opening of the West Java Paragliding Championship 2025 at the Sumedang Central Government Field on Sunday, 21 September 2025, alongside Regent of Sumedang, Dony Ahmad Munir.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to supporting the Festival Pesona Jatigede 2025 across its series of artistic, sports, and paragliding championship events. These include the West Java Paragliding World Championship 2025 and Sumedang Creative Festival (SCF) 2025, showcasing a wide array of artistic, cultural, sports, and creative expressions from the Sumedang community to gain broader recognition.
“Today, the skies of Sumedang witness history. Pilots from around the world display their skills, sportsmanship, and courage over Batudua Gunung Lingga. Beyond that, Sumedang comes alive through creative energy, filled with innovation and ingenuity. The West Java Paragliding World Championship 2025 serves as both an international tourism magnet and proof that Sumedang can compete globally through sport tourism and the creative economy,” added Dessy Ruhati.
The festival series is an annual momentum for the Sumedang Regency Government to promote tourism, culture, sports, and the creative economy internationally. Visitors not only enjoy breathtaking natural beauty but also interact with authentic local products, such as traditional cuisine, artistic handicrafts, captivating music performances, and fashion representing Sumedang’s cultural identity.

“Festival Pesona Jatigede has been made an annual agenda, including the West Java Paragliding Championship and Sumedang Creative Festival, which can stimulate the economy and, God willing, enhance community welfare,” said Regent Dony Ahmad Munir.
Meanwhile, other festival activities, such as the Sumedang Creative Festival, provide opportunities for performing artists to showcase their creative works to both local and international audiences.
“This festival serves as a platform for performers to demonstrate their talents, such as Sumedang traditional music and the Ronggeng Sadunya dance. The Ronggeng Sadunya performance, presented by hundreds of school-aged children for invited guests, displays the beauty of movement, music, singing, and remarkable coordination. What’s even more special is that this performance involves students with special needs, proving that dance belongs to all children without exception. This exemplifies inclusivity in art and culture and demonstrates that every child has the potential to contribute and express themselves through art,” added Director of Visual and Performing Arts, Dadam Mahdar of the Ministry of Creative Economy.

In addition to paragliding competitions and Ronggeng Sadunya performances accompanied by traditional Sundanese singing, Festival Pesona Jatigede 2025 was enlivened by various other creative and cultural displays that highlight the uniqueness of Sumedang, including the Tari Umbul Kolosal with 500 dancers from 26 subdistricts, performances by Bajidor from the Sumedang Cultural Artists Association, and stand-up comedy performances by local comedians.
