Ministry of Creative Economy Supports Merah Putih Village Cooperative to Create Jobs in the Creative Economy Sector

Jakarta, July 10, 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy (MoCE) and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (MoCSME) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Creative Economy and Cooperative Synergy. The agreement aims to strengthen hexaxelix collaboration between ministries.

Menteri Ekraf dan Menteri Koperasi menandatangani MoU, Kementerian Ekraf dukung Koperasi Desa Merah Putih lewat kolaborasi Antarkementerian, Jakarta, Kamis (10/7/2025).

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, in his remarks, stated that the MoU aligns with MoCE’s vision to become a new engine for national economic growth, starting from local regions, while MoCSME is promoting the Merah Putih Village Cooperative program. Minister Riefky emphasized that cooperation is crucial in the development of data, human resource capacity, creative infrastructure in villages, funding systems, marketing systems, and in opening new job opportunities for the younger generation.

“We want to explore the potential in every village to strengthen the Merah Putih Village Cooperative program, so that their products can be distributed across villages, districts, and even provinces. Together with the Ministry of Cooperatives, we will curate which products can be elevated to the national and even global levels,” said Minister Riefky during his remarks.

The MoU signing took place at the MoCSME office in Jakarta on Thursday, July 10, 2025. The MoU outlines the following areas of cooperation between MoCE and MoCSME:

  1. Institutional support and business development of cooperatives in the creative economy sector.

  2. Institutional strengthening and business development of Merah Putih Village/Kelurahan Cooperatives in the creative economy sector;

  3. Access to cooperative loans and financing in the creative economy sector.

  4. Utilization of resources to support cooperative and creative economy development;

  5. Strengthening literacy, outreach, and education about cooperatives through the creative economy sector;

  6. Capacity building and human resource development;

  7. Protection and commercialization of intellectual property for cooperative products in the creative economy sector.

  8. Data and information sharing and utilization; and

  9. Other activities agreed upon by both parties, by their respective duties and functions, and prevailing laws and regulations.

Meanwhile, Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi stated that the collaboration is highly relevant, as the essence of a cooperative is cooperation itself. He expressed hope that this partnership would strengthen Indonesia's domestic economy and promote the use of local products.

“This collaboration supports the government's four key programs: job creation, food self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency, and downstream industrialization. We believe this downstream strategy is embodied in this partnership between MoCE and MoCSME,” said Minister Budi Arie. He also noted that there are currently 103 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives established across Indonesia.

Present at the MoU signing were Head of the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP) Hendrar Prihadi, Deputy for Strategic Development and Policy at MoCSME Sarah Sadiqa, Deputy for Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution Setya Budi Arijanta, Head of HR Training Center for Procurement Hardi, Head of Legal, Organization, and HR Bureau Arif Rahman, and Head of Public Relations and General Affairs Bureau Dwi Rahayu Eka S.

Accompanying Minister Riefky were Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy/Senior Secretary Dessy Ruhati, Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology Muhammad Niel El Himam, Head of Legal, Human Resources, and Organization Bureau Moch. Nurul Huda, Director of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment Development, Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, Director of Infrastructure Facilitation, Fahmy Akmal, and Director of Fashion, Romi Astuti.
