Jakarta, 7 October 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya held an audience with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, H.E. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya. The meeting aimed to support the Indonesian Embassy in Bern’s efforts to promote Indonesia’s creative industry in Switzerland and expand bilateral cooperation in the creative economy.

“Collaboration with Switzerland not only strengthens the export of creative products but also opens opportunities for knowledge exchange, research, and the development of creative talent. This aligns with the strategic direction of Asta Ekraf, which emphasizes markets and talent as key drivers of national creative economy growth,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during the audience at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta, Tuesday, 7 October 2025.
The meeting was part of the Ministry of Creative Economy effort to strengthen the Creative Economy Market Cluster, one of the eight strategic programs under Asta Ekraf. Minister of Creative Economy Riefky noted that economic relations between Indonesia and Switzerland have continued to show positive development, especially in the creative sector, which plays an increasing role in bilateral trade and investment.

Based on preliminary data until Q3 2024 processed by the Ministry of Creative Economy’s Data and Information Center from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Indonesia–Switzerland creative economy trade shows a positive trend. Indonesian creative product exports reached USD 2.139 million, while imports from Switzerland amounted to USD 1.221 million, reflecting a trade surplus and strong competitiveness of Indonesian creative products in the European market.
Beyond trade, Switzerland has also been a key investor in Indonesia’s creative industries. Over the past three years, Swiss investment has shown a consistent increase: USD 11.53 million in 2023, USD 8.36 million in 2024, and a significant jump to USD 14.34 million in 2025. Cumulatively, total Swiss investment in Indonesia’s creative economy reached USD 34.23 million.

Supporting this data, Ambassador I Gede Ngurah Swajaya added that Indonesia–Switzerland economic cooperation is also strengthened through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Indonesia and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which includes Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.
“We will leverage the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026 to showcase the strength of Indonesia’s creative industries. We want the world to see that Indonesia is not only rich in natural resources but also a hub of innovation and a rapidly growing creative economy,” said the Ambassador.

Also present at the meeting was Secretary III for Economy at the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, Monita Purba. Minister of Creative Economy Riefky was accompanied by Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi; Director of Marketing Systems and Institutional Relations, Radi Manggala; and Director of Crafts, Neli Yana.
