Jakarta, April 21, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya received an audience from PT Vidio Dot Com to discuss the film industry. One of the main topics was raising public awareness about watching local films legally.

“Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to eradicating film piracy in Indonesia and supporting public education to watch local films legally,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky during the meeting at the Pesona Indonesia Film Building on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Vidio is an Indonesia-based over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service platform that provides a wide range of content such as series, films, animation, sports, and television shows. Vidio also produces its own original programs.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky believes that a healthy and growing film ecosystem begins with strong collaboration between the government, industry, and the public. He emphasized that building public awareness of the importance of respecting creative works is key to advancing Indonesia’s creative economy.
“Solid cooperation between the government, industry, and the public will strengthen the film ecosystem, as appreciation for creative works is the main foundation of progress in the creative economy,” said Minister of Creative EconomyTeuku Riefky.

For this reason, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky stated that the Ministry of Creative Economy will prioritize efforts to combat film piracy, which harms the creative economy industry, through effective enforcement to reduce the spread of illegal content and protect creators’ copyrights. He added that once this is achieved, the government and the film industry can promote a culture of watching films legally, which in turn will strengthen Indonesia’s cultural identity and enhance public appreciation of local artworks.
“Together, let us safeguard the national cinema so it remains a platform for creators to work and inspire society,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky, accompanied by Deputy for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu.
Hermawan Sutanto, Managing Director of Vidio, appreciated the Ministry of Creative Economy support in combating film piracy in Indonesia. He expressed his hope that this collaboration would improve the quality of Indonesian films, develop the film industry, and bring significant economic benefits to creators and industry players.
“We truly appreciate the Minister’s support in protecting the copyright of Indonesian films. With this, we are optimistic that the film industry can advance further and improve economic welfare for creators and industry professionals,” said Hermawan Sutanto.
