Jakarta, May 7, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency welcomed the plan to open Sederhana restaurant branches in Singapore and Australia in mid-2026. This expansion is expected to strengthen the culinary subsector as part of a broader strategy to increase the penetration of Indonesia’s creative economy in the international market.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya receives an audience with Global Minang Ventura (GMV) at the Ministry of Creative Economy office, Jakarta, Thursday (7/5/2026).
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that culinary expansion is not solely business-oriented, but also serves as a medium for Indonesian cultural diplomacy and contributes to increasing national economic value.
“This is not merely about increasing business penetration into international markets, but also about introducing Indonesian culture through Nusantara culinary heritage. Of course, this aligns with the Ministry of Creative Economy’s mission of bringing local heroes to the national stage and eventually to the global stage,” said the Minister during an audience with the Sederhana Group at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta, Thursday (7/5).

Teuku Riefky added that the Ministry is currently proposing 115 Indonesian Standard Industrial Classifications (KBLI) to be included within the scope of the creative economy. This initiative aims to provide more targeted policy support, incentives, and programs for creative economy players.
“Determining the KBLI categories is certainly important in ensuring targeted incentives for creative economy actors. Therefore, we are ready to collaborate with Sederhana because what they are doing can become a blueprint for creative economy players, especially in the culinary sector, to go global,” he explained.
