Jakarta, 27 August 2025 – Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency Irene Umar expressed support for strengthening digital infrastructure as a key driver of the creative economy. Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene affirmed that advancing national talent must also be accompanied by the development of digital infrastructure to reinforce the creative economy ecosystem as the new engine of growth.
Wakil Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Irene Umar, menghadiri acara Indonesian Summit 2025 yang digelar IDN Times di The Tribrata Dharmawangsa, Jakarta, Rabu (27/08/2025).
“The theme of this year’s Indonesian Summit is aligned with the Ministry of Creative Economy’s commitment to strengthening the creative economy ecosystem. One of the focal points is digital infrastructure, where the internet plays a central role and technological adoption has become the main accelerator of creative economy development today. For example, subsectors such as animation and gaming require advanced technological capabilities to enhance productivity and enable exponential growth, ensuring that the creative economy truly becomes Indonesia’s new engine of growth,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene after attending the Indonesian Summit 2025 organized by IDN Times at The Tribrata Dharmawangsa, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 27 August 2025.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene also highlighted the role of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a complementary tool to accelerate production processes, increase efficiency, and open wider market opportunities, especially for the next generation.
“With innovations such as AI, our productivity can multiply. AI is not meant to replace humans but to enhance productivity, especially for young people who are most adaptive to technology. If the younger generation is able to utilize it optimally, national productivity can advance significantly while addressing real challenges, not merely producing easily replicated outputs,” continued Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.
During the opening session, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, who delivered the keynote speech, stated that Indonesia is currently at a critical phase, with more than 70 percent of its population within the productive age. According to him, this momentum must be fully maximized through the enhancement of human resource quality to ensure it becomes a true driving force for national progress.

“The demographic bonus, with 70 percent of the population in productive age, presents a significant opportunity for Indonesia, but it will be wasted if not accompanied by adequate competencies and relevant skills to address the challenges of the 21st century. Today’s youth are no longer merely observers; they have become key actors in development—whether in business, academia, politics, or media. Every role they assume contributes to realizing Indonesia Emas 2045,” stated Minister Agus.
Indonesia Summit 2025 is an annual event organized by IDN Times and held from 27–28 August 2025 at The Tribrata Dharmawangsa, Jakarta. With the theme “Thriving Beyond Turbulence. Celebrating Indonesia’s 80 Years of Purpose, Progress, and Possibility”, the event discusses six major pillars: economy, education, equality, democracy, environment, and employment opportunities. Attended by approximately 5,000 participants and cross-sector leaders, this independent forum serves as a platform for the younger generation and national leaders to shape Indonesia’s future through dialogue, innovation, and real actions.

As part of the event series, the Indonesia Millennial & Gen Z Report 2025 was launched—an annual publication by IDN Research Institute that captures the behaviors, values, and challenges of Indonesia’s young generation. The report has become an important reference for the government, industry players, and the public in formulating strategies relevant to millennials and Gen Z. Founder & COO of IDN Times, William Utomo, stated that the report was compiled through quantitative and qualitative studies in 12 cities with more than 1,500 respondents.
“We want industries to better understand the behaviors, challenges, and opportunities of millennials and Gen Z, including how they define success, manage finances, and view spirituality and careers,” explained William.
