Jakarta, May 20, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency received an audience with the Indonesian Jamu Council (DJI) to strengthen the jamu ecosystem as both a health product and a cultural heritage with high economic value. The meeting marked a strategic step toward advancing Indonesia’s jamu industry to an international and sustainable level.
Minister for Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with the Indonesian Jamu Council (DJI) at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5/2026).
“Jamu is not merely a traditional heritage, but also a creative economy product with tremendous potential in the global market. Through support from the digital ecosystem, research, and science, we must transform this cultural wealth into a modern product that appeals to global audiences,” said Minister for Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/05).
In realizing this vision, the Ministry of Creative Economy is encouraging stronger branding, intellectual property (IP) protection, and expanded access through various digital platforms. In addition, the Ministry plans to support branding efforts and implement rigorous curation processes so that the jamu industry can compete on the international stage.

“Our cultural creativity has been extraordinary for generations, but the greatest challenge lies in commercialization and monetization. Through the digital ecosystem, we can support branding and curate unique products so they are ready to seize global opportunities without creating pressure to immediately meet large-scale production capacity,” added the Minister.
The Indonesian Jamu Council (DJI) serves as a national platform that brings together business actors, jamu formulators, academics, researchers, communities, and other stakeholders to develop and preserve jamu as both a cultural heritage and an Indonesian health product.
The audience also discussed strengthening collaboration and finalizing preparations for The 2nd Jamu International Conference & Expo (JICE) 2026, which is scheduled to take place in October 2026, coinciding with National Creative Economy Day on October 24.

The 2nd JICE 2026 is designed as an integrated international-scale platform combining scientific conferences, industry exhibitions, and cultural promotion. The organizers also plan to invite the Minister for Creative Economy as a speaker in a pre-event podcast at Borobudur Temple on May 31, 2026.
“Building on the success of the first JICE event, we remain committed to bringing together all stakeholders to develop, preserve, and globalize jamu. We highly appreciate the extraordinary support from the Ministry of Creative Economy, which is willing to work hand in hand with us in making this major agenda a success,” said DJI Chairman Daniel Tjen.
The 2nd JICE 2026 will carry the theme “Jamu as a Creative Wellness and Health Industry: Driving Sustainable Well-Being through Cultural Innovation, Green Economy, and Global Partnerships.” The main event is planned to take place at Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta and the Borobudur Temple area, integrating the heritage tourism ecosystem with the creative jamu industry.
