Bali, October 5, 2025 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, praised the skateboarding competition in Bali as a platform for the creativity of the younger generation. She noted that a lifestyle-based creative economy ecosystem grows from such communities.
Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended the 2025 King of Kuta Skateboarding Contest at Kuta Beach Skate Park, Bali, on Sunday (10/05/2025).
"Events like this are important because they provide a space for children to learn courage, creativity, and perseverance in a positive environment. They are the forerunners of Indonesia's creative generation who will bring a new spirit to the lifestyle-based economy," stated Deputy Minister Irene while attending the King of Kuta Skateboarding Contest 2025 at Kuta Beach Skate Park, Bali on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Held from October 3–5, 2025, by Volcom Indonesia in collaboration with Motion Project and Back3 Productions, the event featured various categories, including 'Groms (Under 15),' which was highlighted for opening opportunities for young talents to develop. Deputy Minister Irene expressed her appreciation to all organizers and the skateboarding community for the initiative to hold an event that combines sports, arts, and cross-element collaboration.

Beyond honing physical skills, this competition also served as a stage for various local brands in the culinary, fashion, and lifestyle sectors. The event underscores that Indonesia's creative economy is not only about individual talent but also about collective innovation that opens opportunities, creates new trends, and nurtures the forerunners of Indonesia's creative generation.
Deputy Minister Irene emphasized that building a strong creative economy ecosystem needs to start from an early age through cross-sectoral support.
"Creativity and the courage to express oneself need to be honed from childhood. From skateparks like this, the values of sportsmanship and innovation can grow and become the foundation for the future creative economy," she added.

The King of Kuta Skateboarding Contest 2025 also serves as proof that public spaces like skate parks can become centers for creative interaction and collaboration.
