Ministry of Creative Economy Trains Semarang Creative Practitioners to Strengthen Competitiveness Through Digital Promotion

Semarang, 5 November 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, through the Directorate of Film, Animation, and Video, provided training to dozens of creative economy practitioners in Semarang to produce high-quality promotional videos. The program was designed to help local products compete in national and global digital markets.

“The strength of Indonesia’s creative economy lies in ideas, innovation, and adaptability. Through training like this, creative entrepreneurs can showcase their products more attractively even with limited resources, while expanding their promotional reach to national and global audiences. This is the spirit of the new engine of growth that we continue to promote,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.

The training was held at MG Setos Hotel, Semarang City, Central Java. Director of Film, Animation, and Video Doni Setiawan added that this initiative is part of the government’s strategy to strengthen digital promotion capabilities among creative practitioners across regions.

“Creative content is now the main bridge between products and the market. Through a practical approach, we aim to help creative entrepreneurs understand how to build brand image and communicate product value through compelling visuals. With this, local potential can appear more professional and competitive on both national and international stages,” Doni explained.

The central government’s support was positively received by local stakeholders. Member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Jamal Mirdad appreciated the Ministry’s concrete efforts to enhance digital promotion capacity among regional creative actors. According to him, in today’s digital era, strong product quality must be supported by visual communication and attractive promotional strategies to stay competitive.

Meanwhile, Head of the Semarang City Office of Culture and Tourism, Indriyasari, reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to developing creative human resources. She noted that digital promotion is a strategic necessity for MSMEs and creative entrepreneurs to help local products gain broader recognition and generate economic impact for communities.

The training featured speaker Vega Viditama, who delivered material on Producing Quality Promotional Videos for Creative Products with Limited Resources. Through hands-on learning, participants were guided through photography and videography basics, production techniques using simple tools such as smartphones, and storytelling strategies to build strong brand identity on social media.

The program drew high enthusiasm from participants representing various creative subsectors such as crafts, culinary, fashion, and photography. Beyond technical skill-building, the training also strengthened collaborative networks among Semarang’s creative actors—an important foundation for developing the local creative ecosystem.

As a follow-up, the Ministry encouraged the implementation of ongoing mentoring programs and the formation of local creative content communities to ensure sustainable application of the skills gained. Participants were also directed toward other development programs such as Apresiasi Kreasi Indonesia (AKI), Ekraf Scale Up Program, and Kelas Kreatif Indonesia.

Through these initiatives, the Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to delivering similar training programs across potential regions to ensure equitable access to capacity-building for creative economy actors, in line with the vision of cultivating an inclusive, competitive, and impactful creative ecosystem toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
