Ministry of Creative Economy Welcomes JVWF 2025 as a Platform to Showcase Automotive Potential in the Creative Economy

Jakarta, June 19, 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky, welcomed the delegation from the committee of the Jogja Volkswagen Festival (JVWF) at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Thursday, June 19, 2025. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to drive growth in the creative industry, with a specific emphasis on the automotive sector.

“Although the automotive industry does not fall directly under our nomenclature, it remains an up-and-coming sector. It intersects with various creative economy subsectors and can generate a sustainable impact for the broader creative ecosystem,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

During the meeting, the Minister of Creative Economy expressed his support for the upcoming JVWF, scheduled to take place on July 12–13, 2025, at the Gelanggang Inovasi & Kreativitas UGM. He emphasized the strategic role of the government in advancing the creative aspects of the automotive sector, viewing it as a driver of national economic growth and a source of quality employment.

“We are open to supporting this event in various forms, including training, supporting promotional efforts, or other collaborations that can be further discussed. The automotive sector holds significant potential and deserves to be nurtured and developed as part of Indonesia’s national creative industry ecosystem,” Minister of Creative Economy Riefky added.

The Jogja Volkswagen Festival (JVWF) is an international automotive event initiated and organized by the Volkswagen Club Yogyakarta (VCY) since 2013. The festival features activities aimed at public education, strengthening cross-stakeholder collaboration within the creative automotive industry, and promoting digital technology as a medium to engage younger audiences.

“This festival is more than just an exhibition. There are also sharing sessions, especially for the youth, to show how a hobby can evolve into a community and eventually grow into a national-scale business,” explained VCY Chairman, Didik Rahadian.

Didik added that JVWF is designed not only as an exhibition but also as a marketplace for MSMEs to connect and collaborate.

“The products on display are diverse, ranging from spare parts to automotive accessories, interior accessories, and other complementary goods,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Creativity, Culture, and Design, Yuke Sri Rahayu, welcomed the JVWF 2025 initiative. She believes this collaboration can serve as a strategic entry point to tap into the potential of the automotive sector as a driver for creative talent development.

“The automotive industry is like a ‘hidden gem’—it has immense economic potential and remains underexplored. Events like this present opportunities for us to strengthen our creative economy data, particularly in measuring the sector's contribution to the development of Indonesia’s creative ecosystem,” Yuke said.

Accompanying the Minister were Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity, Yuke Sri Rahayu; Director for Architecture and Design, Sabar Norma Megawati Panjaitan; Inspector, Achmadi; Acting Director of Application, Wahyu Wicaksono; and Head of Subdirectorate for Marketing and Commercialization of Architecture and Design, Linda Emilda.

Also present were the Steering Committee of JVWF 2025, Sumartoyo, and Rosyid, an alumnus of UGM Mechanical Engineering and also an entrepreneur in the automotive sector.
