Jakarta, January 10, 2025 – The prestigious New York Fashion Week is set to take place in early February 2025. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, has expressed full support for creative economy players who will represent Indonesia on the international stage.
“We are proud of their relentless efforts despite limitations. Whatever assistance we can provide, we will. We hope the preparations can go even further,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky while receiving an audience of creative economy players at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Minister of Creative Economy Riefky praised the dedication of these creative players who will showcase local products on the global stage. He emphasized the Ministry of Creative Economy readiness to support promotional efforts that will strengthen Indonesia's fashion industry.
“We also support other fashion designers who aim to bring Indonesia’s name to the world. We are proud and ready to assist. We can also engage banking partners to support this valuable initiative,” added Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.
The audience was also attended by the Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu; Director of Fashion, Romi Astuti; Director of Crafts, Neil Yana; and Osco Olfriady Letunggamu, Chair of the Gekrafs Foreign Affairs Special Committee, along with his team.
During the meeting, Yuke emphasized that the participation of creative economy players should not stop at New York Fashion Week but should also open opportunities for business and the promotion of Indonesian products abroad. She expressed hope that the success of Indonesian fashion designers would inspire other creative industry players.
“We truly appreciate this achievement. It is extraordinary to be part of New York Fashion Week with such an outstanding concept. However, it should not stop at just a fashion show. There should be a focus on continuity, such as selling Indonesian products abroad. Hopefully, this will pave the way for others to follow,” said Yuke.
One of the participating fashion designers, Adith Hendart, shared that he felt aligned with the Ministry of Creative Economy vision. According to him, their shared mission is about leveraging creativity to create impactful outcomes, especially in the economic sector.
“All concepts are aligned. The creative economy is about how creativity-based initiatives can generate impactful outcomes, particularly in terms of economic growth. One of the Minister’s goals is to promote exports when our works have gained global recognition. When our creations reach markets like the U.S., we can enhance our export value. That’s why collaboration between creative individuals, the ministry, and the government is essential,” said Adith.
