National Christmas Celebration Becomes a Momentum to Strengthen an Inclusive Creative Economy

Jakarta, 5 January 2026 – The peak of the National Christmas Celebration 2025 was held on Monday, 5 January 2026, at Indoor Tennis Senayan, Jakarta, marking the conclusion of the Christmas Safari series that had taken place since November 2025.

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Christmas serves as a momentum to strengthen unity, solidarity, and social concern amid the nation’s diversity.

“This celebration proves that Indonesia is a harmonious and united nation, where we respect one another as brothers and sisters. This is Indonesia, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika—diverse yet united in one purpose. Let us safeguard our unity,” said President Prabowo.

The National Christmas 2025 series featured various activities, including national insight seminars, joint worship services, social actions, Christmas reflections, the launch of an Ecotheology book, the launch of the Curriculum of Love for Christian Theology Schools, as well as interfaith agendas highlighting humanitarian issues and environmental sustainability. The peak celebration was further enlivened by church choir performances, Christmas theater arts, and Christmas reflections.

The Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, interpreted the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebration as a momentum to strengthen shared values while fostering hope for the creative economy through the reinforcement of local Intellectual Property (IP).

“Christmas and New Year are not merely celebrations of faith, but also a momentum to reaffirm the spirit of togetherness, mutual support, and to open space for the creative economy to grow more empowered, starting from the regions,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.

During the Nataru period, the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency also conducted direct visits to creative economy activities in five regions, namely Jakarta, Banten, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surakarta. These activities were carried out to ensure the presence of the state in supporting creative economy practitioners who have collaborated with regional governments and the private sector amid increased economic activity during the long holiday period.

The National Christmas Celebration 2025 was also attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, members of the Red and White Cabinet, Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung, Ambassador of Palestine Zuhair Al-Shun, interfaith leaders, and thousands of Christian congregants.
