“Today, we are igniting the spirit of creativity as a new source of national strength. The creative economy is the New Engine of Growth, a new engine that drives national economic growth through ideas, creation, innovation, and collaboration,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Friday, 24 October 2025.

Over the past year, the creative economy sector has demonstrated strong performance amid the global economic recovery. Based on data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), creative economy exports reached USD 25.44 billion in 2024, accounting for more than 9 percent of total national exports. By mid-2025, export value stood at approximately USD 13 billion, equivalent to IDR 215 trillion, or 50 percent of the 2025 target.

“All creative economy subsectors are part of a major movement led by Indonesia’s young generation in building the future toward Golden Indonesia 2045. I invite all creative economy players to continue moving forward, innovating, collaborating, and adapting. Creativity must become our main strength in facing today’s global challenges,” said the Minister.

Investment performance has also shown a positive trend. As of mid-2025, total investment in the creative economy sector reached IDR 90.12 trillion, or 66 percent of the national target, contributing around 9 percent to total national investment realization. These figures reflect growing investor confidence in Indonesia’s creative industries as a resilient and future-oriented sector.

Meanwhile, the creative economy’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded positive growth of 5.69 percent in 2024. The sector employed 26.47 million workers, the majority of whom are young people and women. This achievement exceeded the 2025 target of 25.55 million workers, underscoring the inclusive nature of the creative economy and its significant role in creating quality jobs across regions.

“The creative economy sector proves that creativity not only produces works, but also opens opportunities and creates new jobs in various regions, contributing to national economic growth,” said the Minister.

Through the OktoBerkreasi commemoration, the Ministry of Creative Economy reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cross-sector collaboration in developing a sustainable creative ecosystem. Programs to enhance the capacity of creative economy players, expand access to financing, and support export promotion continue to be intensified to enable regional creative actors to penetrate global markets.

“The creative economy is not merely a sector, but a national movement. From music and culinary arts to design and digital applications, all are driven by the same spirit: creating value from ideas, opening quality job opportunities, and bringing Indonesia’s name to the global stage,” said the Minister.

With the spirit of National Creative Economy Day 2025, the government invites all creative players, communities, academics, the private sector, and the public to make creativity the main foundation of national development. The creative economy will continue to grow from the regions, empower communities, and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global creative economy powerhouse.
