“The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to accelerating the development of the national film industry as a sustained effort to appreciate and support the works of filmmakers. One of these efforts is through the organization of free movie screenings,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Sunday, 26 October 2025.
OktoBersinema was held at Cinepolis Lippo Mall Nusantara, Jakarta, from 23–25 October 2025. The program is part of the #OktoBerkreasi series as well as the celebration of National Creative Economy Day 2025. These activities aim to appreciate creative economy practitioners across subsectors and to position the creative economy as a new engine of national economic growth.
The facilitation of these free movie screenings serves as a means to maintain enthusiasm and voice support for the works of Indonesian filmmakers, which continue to be encouraged to reach the global stage.
“OktoBerkreasi invites the wider public, creative communities, and local brands to jointly ignite the spirit of innovation through various activations in both digital spaces and public spaces,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar.

Public enthusiasm was very high, starting from participant registration to the smooth implementation of the screenings. Three Indonesian films were shown over three consecutive days, ranging from the legendary story Panji Tengkorak, the musical romance Rangga & Cinta, to the time-crossing journey Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan.
Panji Tengkorak is presented in an engaging animated format, with a storyline adapted from the comic of the same title. Produced by Falcon Pictures, this Indonesian production further strengthens the foundation of the creative industry in Indonesia.
Rangga & Cinta is not only known for its romantic storyline, but has also recently premiered at the Hawai‘i International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival. The film is still being screened in cinemas across Indonesia.

Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan represents Indonesia in the selection for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. Directed by Yandy Laurens, the film has attracted more than three million viewers and has also been screened in Malaysia and Brunei.
In addition, the Directorate of Film, Animation, and Video collaborated with Produksi Film Negara (PFN) and the Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda Jakarta) to organize an Open Air Cinema at Dukuh Atas Skate Park on 21 October 2025. The activities included screenings of PFN-produced short films and a promotional booth for the film Menuju Pelaminan by Yuda Kurniawan. These activities were part of the Jakarta Innovation Days (JID) 2025 series.
PFN also organized a screening of Menuju Pelaminan at Cinepolis as part of the National Creative Economy Day celebration. In her remarks, Deputy for Media Creativity Agustini Rahayu stated, “We continue to support an inclusive Indonesian film industry and ensure that audiences can enjoy local films with pride. The film Menuju Pelaminan and PFN are an integral part of this spirit.”
