“Many people think radio is over, but now is the right time to prove otherwise. Radio is still alive, still listened to, and still relevant, from traffic information and news to entertainment. Especially when the internet goes completely down, we will surely return to the radio. That is why it is very important for young people today to know how to turn on and use the radio,” said Deputy Minister Irene in the broadcast titled Radio Masih Ada: Santai Siang Bersama Wamen Ekraf on Monday, July 14, 2025.
The program was broadcast live from RRI’s mini studio in the lobby of Chubb Square, Thamrin Nine, Jakarta. The program was previously inaugurated by the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, together with the President Director of LPP RRI Hendrasmo on July 7, 2025. Mini studios built in various office buildings, universities, and public spaces serve as participatory spaces for the public to directly experience the broadcasting industry.

In the broadcast, Deputy Minister Irene also shared her experience as a former radio announcer at Kiss FM. She further underlined that this medium is a key supporter of many creative subsectors, ranging from music and advertising to educational content based on audio.
“Radio is a silent yet powerful lifeline, it gives breath to musicians, voice actors, scriptwriters, and community creators. Amid the abundance of digital platforms, radio remains an important channel that delivers works to the public,” she said.
According to her, broadcasting has great potential to be developed as an adaptive and inclusive audio content platform. Through format innovation and collaboration with communities, this medium can reach more audiences, including young creators who are now the main focus of developing the creative ecosystem. The Ministry of Creative Economy continues to encourage the utilization of radio not only as a broadcasting tool but also as an educational and participatory medium that brings the public closer to policies and the spirit of collaboration in the creative economy.

“Radio can become a space for young generations to perform, express themselves, and grow. In their hands, radio will not only survive but grow and transform into a new engine of growth in the map of Indonesia’s creative industry,” emphasized Deputy Minister Irene.
“Radio is not just a listening device. It is a space for dialogue, a space for learning, and a space to grow together,” she added.
