Jakarta, 16 September 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ministry of Creative Economy) is committed to strengthening the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) in maintaining a healthy broadcasting ecosystem. This commitment is manifested through the exploration of strategic collaboration, including encouraging revisions to Law Number 32 of 2002 on Broadcasting, which is considered no longer fully aligned with the digital era.
Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, menerima audiensi Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia (KPI), Jakarta, Selasa (16/09/2025).
“We can collaborate through Ekraf Data, Ekraf Bijak, and Sinergi Ekraf. This means that the Ministry of Creative Economy and KPI are interconnected in strengthening data, including research and policy formulation related to broadcasting industry practitioners as well as the revision of the Broadcasting Law. We understand that the timeline for regulatory revision or amendments to the Broadcasting Law remains uncertain. However, in following up on the revision, we can provide input to the House of Representatives or the Government to seek common ground or better solutions,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky during the audience held at Autograph Tower Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.
The Minister of Creative Economy stated that this audience serves as an opportunity to open avenues for collaboration in research, policy, and program development to strengthen the creative economy. He emphasized that stronger collaboration requires regulatory adjustments so that broadcasting industry practitioners can adapt to ongoing dynamics.
“As a newly established ministry, the Ministry of Creative Economy has a Deputy for Media Creativity that oversees television and radio practitioners in addressing their challenges. We continue to map the broadcasting industry ecosystem to identify existing issues, so that we can continue to support the growth of the creative economy through various sustainable collaboration initiatives,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

In line with this statement, Deputy for Media Creativity Agustini Rahayu also conveyed the challenges faced by the television and radio industries in the digital era, including declining advertising revenues and high production costs for broadcast programs.
“Television and radio workers often ask what kind of solutions can prevent them from being constrained by regulations that should instead underpin the dynamics of the broadcasting industry. Moreover, existing regulations do not address digitalization, even though there are now many OTT platforms and social media present in the public sphere,” said Deputy Agustini.
Meanwhile, several KPI programs were also presented, including the School for Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcasting Program Standards (P3SPS), as well as three annual appreciation programs such as the Ramadan Broadcasting Awards, Child-Friendly Broadcasting Awards, and the KPI Awards 2025. These programs aim to recognize broadcasting institutions, regional governments, and broadcasting professionals for their performance or educational and informative programs within a certain period.

“We hope this synergy can support KPI’s authority in supervising the broadcasting industry, both television and radio. One of our tasks is to encourage a stable industrial climate. We also hope that the Ministry of Creative Economy will continue to encourage broadcasting institutions to grow in their creative and innovative functions, as well as as a means of information and education that serves as a national unifier. Let us jointly promote a competitive Indonesia and more creative content creators or younger generations,” said Chairman of the Central KPI, Ubaidillah.
Accompanying the Minister of Creative Economy were the Director of Television and Radio, Pupung Thariq Fadhillah, and the Minister’s Expert Staff, Gemintang Kejora Mallarangeng. From the Central KPI, attendees included Commissioner Coordinator for Broadcasting Structure and System Management M. Hasrul Hasan; Commissioner Coordinator for Institutional Affairs I Made Sunarsa; Commissioner Coordinator for Broadcast Content Supervision Tulus Santoso; and Commissioner for Institutional Affairs Amin Shabana.
