Jakarta & Tangerang, 1 January 2026 – The Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed appreciation for the role of regional governments and the private sector that have become increasingly proactive in opening public spaces as showcases for local creative products and intellectual property (Intellectual Property/IP) during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. This initiative is considered to provide opportunities for visibility as well as growth for the works of the nation’s creators so they can gain wider public recognition.
The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, inspected one of the booths during a series of visits for the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2025–2026 holiday period in Jakarta and Tangerang, Thursday (01/01/2026).
“The Christmas and New Year holiday momentum demonstrates that local IP can become an integral part of the public’s entertainment and shopping experience. With consistent support in the form of promotional spaces, the works of our creators are increasingly ready to move into broader markets,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.
Ahead of the New Year 2026, the Minister of Creative Economy directly observed the vibrancy of the creative economy in a number of public spaces across DKI Jakarta on Wednesday, 31 December 2025. The creative activities presented amid public celebrations showed that local IP is capable of becoming part of the community’s entertainment and lifestyle experience.

The series of visits by the Minister of Creative Economy in DKI Jakarta began at the MRT Dukuh Atas area, continued to the local culinary IP Toko Kopi Tuku, and concluded at the center of the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebration at Bundaran HI.
On New Year’s Eve, Bundaran HI emerged as a showcase of cross-subsector collaboration within the creative economy, ranging from music stages and technology attractions to a drone show featuring the local IP mascot Jekate, representing Indonesia’s intellectual property assets and local characters.

Kicking off 2026, the Minister of Creative Economy continued the visit to Summarecon Mall Serpong, Banten, on 1 January 2026. In this area, the Minister engaged in direct dialogue with creative economy practitioners from various subsectors, including fashion, perfume, bags, and culinary.
The creative economy scene in Banten appeared increasingly vibrant with the presence of several nationally popular homegrown brands, including Cosmonaut Spacewear, Lakon Indonesia, Mandalika Parfum, Urban State, Bevelient, as well as a tasting experience of the local IP Barbeque Mountain Boys. The presence of these IPs reflects the rapid development of an increasingly competitive intellectual property-based creative industry.

The Minister of Creative Economy also reviewed the Holiday Food Journey Festival at Summarecon Mall Serpong, which featured 44 culinary booths and was filled with strong visitor enthusiasm. The Government appreciates the role of the private sector in providing promotional spaces within shopping centers to facilitate the growth of local IP so that it can thrive and become a host in its own country.
Through this series of activities, the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency reaffirmed its commitment to continuously encouraging collaboration between the central government, regional governments, and the private sector. This synergy is expected to expand collaborative spaces and enable more local IP to advance into the global market.
