Jakarta, April 7, 2025 — The 2025 Eid holiday brought an extraordinary impact on Indonesia’s film industry. A number of Indonesian films released simultaneously during the holiday managed to attract millions of viewers, according to data from cinema networks and film industry players. This figure reflects the public’s strong enthusiasm for local films.
Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif/Kepala Badan Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya menyampaikan apresiasi atas pencapaian gemilang industri perfilman nasional. Menurut Riefky, pencapaian ini merupakan sinyal positif bagi pertumbuhan industri kreatif, khususnya sektor Film, Animasi dan Video.
Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his appreciation for the remarkable achievement of the national film industry. According to Riefky, this milestone is a positive signal for the growth of the creative economy, particularly in the Film, Animation, and Video subsector.
"This year’s Eid holiday has become an important momentum for Indonesian filmmakers. Local films successfully dominated cinema screens and were warmly received by audiences across the country," said Minister Riefky.
Three Indonesian films released during the 2025 Eid holiday surpassed one million viewers each: Pabrik Gula, directed by Awi Suryadi and produced by MD Pictures; Qodrat 2, directed by Charles Gozali and produced by Magma Entertainment and Rapi Film; and Jumbo, an animated film by Ryan Adriandhy produced by Visinema Pictures in collaboration with 420 Indonesian creators.
Animated film Jumbo made history, becoming the highest-grossing Indonesian animated film of all time. Supported by collaboration between the government and multiple stakeholders through cross-channel promotional efforts, Jumbo reached 1,005,252 viewers as of April 6, 2025, based on cinema network data.

Within just seven days of its release, Jumbo surpassed the previous record held by Si Juki the Movie: Panitia Hari Akhir (2017), which had a total of 642,312 viewers.
Minister Riefky further emphasized that the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency will continue to support the growth of the national film ecosystem through various programs, incentives, and cross-platform promotional initiatives in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
"We encourage more collaboration between producers, young filmmakers, and digital platforms to expand the reach of Indonesian films, both domestically and internationally," Riefky explained.
The Ministry will also ensure that policies remain favorable to creative economy players, including facilitating film production and distribution across the regions and into international markets. The rise in moviegoers not only benefits the film industry but also creates a multiplier effect for other sectors, such as culinary, transportation, and more, across the country.
