Jakarta, 16 September 2025 – The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, emphasized that the animation subsector serves as a key driver of creative economy growth with global competitiveness. This statement was delivered during the sneak preview of the film “Riki Rhino 2: The Bird Kingdom”, a domestic animated production that not only provides entertainment but also conveys an educational mission on the conservation of Indonesia’s endangered wildlife.

“Riki Rhino shows that Indonesian animation has global competitiveness. Beyond entertainment, this work instills awareness among children of our nation’s biodiversity. From a creative economy perspective, productions like this must continue to be encouraged because they create new jobs, strengthen the creative industry supply chain, and have the potential to become the new engine of growth for our economy,” said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy at FLIX Cinema, Ashta District 8, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.
The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy expressed appreciation for the release of the sequel, which not only entertains but also carries an educational mission on environmental sustainability. At the same time, she underscored the importance of creative promotion and collaboration to broaden the impact of national animation works.

“Going forward, promotion needs to reach public spaces where children and families gather so that the educational message of Riki Rhino can be received more widely. In addition, the Riki Rhino IP can be further developed through collaborations on derivative products and various brands that align with the film’s character, allowing this animation to become closer to the public while also opening new economic opportunities,” said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy.
Director of PT Putra Sentosa Karya Gemilang and story writer of Riki Rhino 2, Jony Yuwono, emphasized the importance of local animation production as a medium for education and national pride.
“This film is produced entirely domestically by Indonesian animation talent. We present characters of endangered wildlife so that children can learn to love and protect their preservation. Through this work, we hope local talent will gain greater recognition and open up new opportunities within the industry,” explained Jony.

The animation industry is one of the priority creative economy subsectors with strong potential to penetrate global markets. “Riki Rhino 2: The Bird Kingdom” is scheduled for theatrical release in 2026. The film delivers messages on endangered wildlife conservation through an entertaining yet educational storyline, enriching national cinema and strengthening Indonesia’s position on the global animation stage.
