Jakarta, 2 April, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is advancing the strengthening of the national film industry through the utilization of technology and the exploration of new genres, as demonstrated in the special screening of Pelangi di Mars for the Red and White Cabinet. This activity also serves to reinforce the creative economy sector as the new engine of growth.
The Ministry of Creative Economy promoted the strengthening of the national film industry through technological utilization and the exploration of new genres during the special screening of Pelangi di Mars for the Red and White Cabinet at XXI Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (April 2, 2026).
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that Pelangi di Mars reflects the courage of Indonesian filmmakers in developing new approaches to film production.
“This film demonstrates boldness in exploring the science fiction genre while leveraging XR technology to deliver a more immersive experience. This marks an important leap forward for Indonesian cinema,” said the Minister during the special screening of Pelangi di Mars at XXI Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

The Minister added that the Ministry will continue to strengthen the industry by facilitating market access, promotion, and intellectual property-based financing to enhance the global competitiveness of Indonesian films.
“We want Indonesian films not only to be strong domestically, but also capable of competing at the global level,” he added.

“We see that there is one pillar that has not been widely addressed, namely technological infrastructure in film production. Therefore, we are conducting various experiments to align with global developments, which are increasingly oriented toward the use of XR to create more immersive visual experiences. This serves as a stepping stone to foster the imagination of Indonesian children so that, in the future, they can create works and conquer the world,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (LPAI), Seto Mulyadi, assessed that Pelangi di Mars is not only technologically advanced but also carries strong educational value for children.
Meanwhile, the Director of Pelangi di Mars, Upie Guava, emphasized that the project originated from efforts to fill gaps in film technology development that have not been widely explored.

“This film not only entertains, but also instills values of friendship, honesty, and resilience. These are important so that children do not give up easily and are encouraged to face future challenges,” he said.
This special screening marks an initial step in introducing a new technology-based approach to film production, while also opening broader opportunities for Indonesian creative works to grow.

Also accompanying the Minister were Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar; Secretary / Main Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy Dessy Ruhati; Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi; and Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity Yuke Sri Rahayu.
The event was attended by representatives from approximately 20 ministries/agencies, including the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, the Ministry of Communication and Digital, and Statistics Indonesia, demonstrating cross-sector support for the development of the national film industry and creative economy.
