This was conveyed by Minister of Creative Economy Riefky and Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during a meeting with the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The discussion focused on the development of Indonesia's e-commerce industry and strategic collaboration between the government and major e-commerce companies in the country.
"Such collaboration is crucial and will bring significant benefits to the private sector, the state, and the public sector. The development of creative economy sub-sectors could position Indonesia as the largest digital economy hub, especially when there is effective communication between the Ministry of Creative Economy and idEA," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

idEA, established in 2012, serves as a communication platform for Indonesia's e-commerce industry players. With Indonesia's rapidly growing e-commerce sector and the government's target of onboarding 30 million MSMEs into e-commerce by 2025, a healthy industry climate and integrated communication channels among creative economy players, industry partners, and the government are essential.
"We are learning together about the current growth of e-commerce in Indonesia. We are very open and responsive to collaboration. We can start with a more detailed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) so that future collaboration can be expanded, particularly for regional MSMEs. Moreover, under the second point of Asta Cita, the government is committed to strengthening national defense and security systems while promoting national self-sufficiency in food, energy, water, digital economy, green economy, and blue economy. The growth of the digital economy is particularly important," Minister of Creative Economy Riefky added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene stated that Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate on an E-Commerce Day dedicated to creative products by aligning with idEA’s calendar of events. According to her, this initiative would help boost the visibility of local products.
"The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is ready to establish a special day, such as a National Creative Product Shopping Day or National Creative Economy Day, where local products receive extensive promotions, discounts, and visibility to stimulate domestic consumer spending. E-commerce promotions can also be integrated into Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations," said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.

At the same event, idEA’s Vice Chairman I, Felix Sharieff, welcomed the Ministry of Creative Economy support and expressed hope that the collaboration would continue, particularly in training programs and events for MSMEs as part of broader e-commerce education initiatives. He also noted that the Bangga Buatan Indonesia (Proudly Made in Indonesia) Awards are held annually through collaboration between ministries and institutions.
"The meeting with the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency was very positive in exploring e-commerce opportunities. We hope for regulatory ease and stronger collaboration with ministries and institutions. From May 2020 to June 2024, only 17,540,619 MSMEs were onboarded to e-commerce. We need initiatives that go beyond ceremonial events—programs that truly support e-commerce industry growth and help us achieve this year’s targets," said Felix.
