Jakarta, April 22, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, received an audience with music promoter WOW Indonesia at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. In this meeting, Deputy Minister Irene welcomed WOW Indonesia’s initiative to strengthen the national music subsector through the upcoming Wali 25th Anniversary Asia Tour Concert.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar also acknowledged several potential areas of collaboration proposed by the promoter to the ministry. She emphasized that the Ministry of Creative Economy encourages cross-subsector collaboration within the creative economy to create quality job opportunities for the younger generation.
“In a music performance or concert, there are tremendous opportunities to collaborate across various subsectors. One of our tasks at the ministry is to match them with the right partners so that different creative economy subsectors can generate economic value together,” explained Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar.
In 2024, the music subsector contributed IDR 6.6 trillion in added value to the national GDP and employed more than 70,000 workers. Its post-pandemic growth has been significant thanks to the surge in concerts and streaming, prompting the Ministry of Creative Economy to place greater attention on promoting this subsector as a new engine of growth.
The Wali Asia Tour Concert will take place in four countries—Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia—featuring a unique concept that showcases Indonesian culture from a fresh perspective. Seeing this concept, Deputy for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu, stated that concerts abroad hold strong potential to boost Indonesian product exports, supporting the goal of reaching USD 26.44 billion in creative economy exports by 2029.

“We can collaborate with Indonesian embassies in those countries so that not only Indonesians come to watch the concert. By selling merchandise co-created with local Intellectual Property (IP), we can simultaneously drive other creative economy products and increase export value,” said Agustini Rahayu.
WOW Indonesia, as promoter, has previously organized several major concerts with Indonesian artists, including Isyana Sarasvati and Tribute to Chrisye. With Wali, WOW Indonesia is now taking on the challenge of staging the band’s 25th anniversary concerts in four Asian countries with a hajatan-style concept.
The concept was chosen as Wali is deeply rooted in Indonesian culture, not only through its song titles but also its music videos, which strongly highlight the nation’s traditions and values.
Two members of Wali, Tomi and Ovie, attended the meeting and expressed their gratitude for the ministry’s warm welcome and valuable input for their anniversary concerts.

“As artists and creative economy players, we no longer feel uncertain because we now have a parent—the Ministry of Creative Economy. Our visit here is not only to inform about our 25th anniversary Asia Tour Concert, but also to pay respect and introduce ourselves. Alhamdulillah, we received a warm welcome, valuable insights, and extraordinary ideas to develop for our concert. We were also given the opportunity to collaborate with other creative economy players,” said Tomi.
