Jakarta, 4 May, 2026 – The Government continues to strengthen cross-ministerial collaboration in advancing community economic empowerment through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and area-based creative economy development.
The Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, led a Ministerial-Level Meeting attended by the Minister of MSMEs, Maman Abdurrahman, and the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, at MBloc Space, Jakarta, on Monday (04/05/2026).
The meeting discussed the concrete contributions of the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment, the Ministry of MSMEs, and the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency in supporting the National Priority Work Program (PKPN), as well as the progress of previous ministerial meetings regarding the acceleration of poverty alleviation in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025.
In addition, the development of the “Pasar 1001 Malam” program was also discussed as a model for area-based creative economy empowerment.
Coordinating Minister Muhaimin emphasized that MSMEs and the creative economy are key sectors in helping communities rise out of poverty through a sustainable empowerment approach.
“The Government ensures that MSMEs and the creative economy become integral parts of the National Priority Work Program. We want every state program to create a tangible domino effect for small business actors and vulnerable communities,” said Coordinating Minister Muhaimin.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of building a competitive, inclusive, and accessible business ecosystem, particularly for middle- and lower-income groups.
The Minister of MSMEs reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening micro-enterprises. “As a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025, we are focused on ensuring that MSME entrepreneurs, especially in poverty-prone areas, gain access to financing, mentorship, and markets,” he stated.
The updating of MSME databases is being carried out through the integration of DTSEN (National Socio-Economic Single Data) with the SAPA UMKM platform. Through targeted interventions, such as the issuance of business identification cards, the People’s Business Credit (KUR) program, and financing schemes from PNM, MSMEs are expected to grow and become the backbone of the people’s economy.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Creative Economy underscored the importance of developing the creative economy sector as a pathway for alleviating poverty and extreme poverty, particularly through capacity building and improved access to financing.
“The creative economy holds significant potential to empower communities, including those in vulnerable groups. We are accelerating talent development and expanding access to financing so that creative economy actors can grow sustainably and become part of the new engine of growth,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.
During the meeting, the three ministers also highlighted the success of the Blok M area as a tangible example of MSME and creative economy ecosystem development.
The area has successfully transformed into a community-based economic hub supported by transportation connectivity, creative spaces, and dynamic event activities. The selection of Blok M as the meeting venue also reflects an evidence-based policy approach, where policies are formulated based on best practices in the field. Informal visits and discussions were also conducted with several tenants to gather insights directly from MSME and creative economy actors.
With an average of 80,000 visitors per day and an economic turnover reaching approximately IDR 5 billion daily, Blok M stands as a best practice ready to be replicated through the “1001 Malam” program—an initiative by the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment aimed at utilizing idle government and state-owned enterprise assets to create integrated creative economy and MSME hubs.
On this occasion, appreciation was also extended to several managers who have successfully established a strong empowerment ecosystem.
Through cross-ministerial synergy and the strengthening of area-based ecosystems, the Government remains optimistic that the MSME and creative economy sectors will play an increasingly significant role as drivers of national economic growth and as effective instruments for poverty alleviation.
