The Government Strengthens the Role of Women in the National Creative Economy

Jakarta, 30 April, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency places women’s empowerment as a key component of national development. This effort aligns with strengthening the creative economy sector as the new engine of growth, capable of creating added value through creativity and innovation.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, served as a speaker in a talk show session at the Women’s Inspiration Awards 2026 organized by iNews Media Group at iNews Tower, Jakarta, Thursday (30/4/2026).

This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister during her participation in the talk show session at the Women’s Inspiration Awards 2026 held by iNews Media Group at iNews Tower, Jakarta, Thursday (30/4).

“The creative industry does not distinguish between women and men. What matters most is the willingness to create. Women bring strong and unique perspectives, which become a significant strength in generating value and identity,” said the Deputy Minister.

Irene Umar added that the creative economy is an inclusive sector that offers broad opportunities for women to become key players and even leaders within the industry. Several subsectors, such as technology and gaming—traditionally male-dominated—are now increasingly open for women to grow and contribute.

“We need not only confidence but also solidarity. Let us step into the light and shine together,” she stated.

The Ministry of Creative Economy affirmed that strengthening the role of women is part of a broader strategy to build an inclusive and sustainable economy toward Indonesia Emas 2045.

“We believe that when women are given the space to create and lead, the impact will expand opportunities and foster more equitable growth,” she explained.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi, emphasized that empowering women remains a shared responsibility across sectors. According to her, many women still lack access to safe and equal opportunities.

“This serves as a reminder that women’s empowerment is a collective effort. The Government continues to expand access, strengthen protection, and ensure that women can fully realize their potential. One step taken by a woman today can create significant change for many lives tomorrow,” said Arifah Fauzi.

Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development Isyana Bagoes Oka, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Enik Ermawati, and CEO of iNews Media Group Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
