The Ministry of Creative Economy Enhances Creative Economy Community Competence in Aceh Through Personal Branding

Banda Aceh, May 24, 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy is supporting Aceh in improving the skills and competencies of its creative economy community. Through its Human Resource Development Center (Pusbang SDM), the Ministry is providing programs aimed at building the capacity of creative economy talents in the region.

“Aceh is one of 15 priority provinces for creative economy development as stated in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJM). Therefore, the Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to accelerating the growth of local talent and helping them become independent creative economy practitioners,” said Dessy Ruhati, Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy, during a discussion event at Hoco Coffé, Lamteumen, Banda Aceh City, on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The discussion aimed to build personal branding skills and strengthen intellectual property protection capacity in Aceh. This competency-building initiative is designed to raise awareness about the importance of personal branding in product marketing. It also aims to boost the confidence of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), communities, students, and creative economy practitioners in the region.

Dessy Ruhati further expressed hope that every creative economy talent would be able to maximize their potential and contribute significantly to national economic growth—starting from the regions—and gain access to international markets. The Ministry of Creative Economy has already prepared several programs to accelerate this effort.

“We have developed several initiatives, one of which is Talenta Ekraf. This program aims to enhance and strengthen competencies, creating more opportunities and maximizing the creative potential of the younger generation. In this way, creative products and works can serve as tools of diplomacy between nations,” added Dessy, accompanied by Director for Intellectual Property Development and Facilitation, Muhammad Fauzy.

The creative economy has consistently been a driver of national growth, creating high-quality jobs through the development of 17 subsectors within the creative economy. Beyond coffee, handicrafts, and perfumes, Aceh also has strong potential in its distinctive music subsector, which can generate new employment opportunities.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy has initiated a music acceleration program that blends musical genres and fosters collaborations with the Acehnese band Killa The Phia. This initiative will help talented musicians from Aceh gain national recognition and step onto the global stage,” said Rian Syaf, Special Staff to the Minister of Creative Economy for Strategic Issues and Inter-Agency Affairs, during the event.

The creative economy has become one of the main pillars of both national and global economic growth. Amid today’s ever-changing dynamics, innovation and creativity are invaluable assets.

Therefore, the Ministry of Creative Economy encourages creative economy practitioners to pursue competency certification. With its rich cultural heritage, history, and human capital, Aceh has tremendous potential to become a hub of creativity and innovation—offering not only economic value but also cultural and social significance.

“Today, we have the opportunity to learn, share, and build a stronger foundation to face future economic challenges and opportunities. The two key themes we are focusing on—personal branding and intellectual property protection—are essential elements for strengthening the competitiveness of creative talents in today’s digital era,” said Zulkifli, Assistant II to the Regional Secretary of Aceh.
