Jakarta, 5 May 2026 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, attended a special screening of the film Na Willa together with Sekolah Rakyat Kartini and Yayasan Rumah Ceria Setu at Metropole, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/5). Her presence reaffirmed the government’s support for national films that carry educational and cultural values.

Deputy Minister Irene Umar attended the screening of Na Willa alongside Sekolah Rakyat Kartini and Yayasan Rumah Ceria Setu at Metropole, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/5/2026).

“We want to ensure that our film industry not only grows economically, but also serves as a medium for character building among Indonesian children,” said Irene Umar.

In addition to the screening, Irene Umar also engaged in direct dialogue with the children to understand their perspectives on local creative content. Her visit also aimed to ensure that creative content distribution can reach children from diverse backgrounds.

“Through the film Na Willa, we learn to see the world from the perspective of children—full of imagination and the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Let us support local works that provide space for Indonesian children to dare to dream, create, and innovate without limits for the future of the nation,” she added.

The Na Willa screening was organized by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) in collaboration with Waroeng Imaji and the Yayasan Pembina Karakter dan Seni Anak Rusun. It is expected to strengthen an inspiring local film ecosystem for the younger generation.

“Na Willa is a child-friendly film filled with moral values. The government’s presence is crucial to ensure that our children receive healthy, safe, and inspiring content that supports their positive development,” said Deputy Minister of PPPA, Veronica Tan.

The film Na Willa tells the imaginative adventure of a six-year-old girl in Surabaya during the 1960s, growing up in a multicultural family. Presented from a child’s innocent yet imaginative perspective, the film serves not only as an educational public screening but also as a medium to strengthen literacy and provide a creative space for the younger generation.

“We hope this kind of event will be held regularly to inspire children in building character and instilling positive values through film,” said Dovieke Angsana, Chairperson of Yayasan Waroeng Imaji.
