Visiting the Ministry of Creative Economy, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Discusses Strengthening the Creative Industry 2026

Jakarta, 29 January 2026 — The Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, conducted a working visit to the office of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Thursday (29/1/2026). The visit served as a momentum to strengthen cross-ministerial coordination in advancing the development of the creative industry as a new engine of national economic growth.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya received the working visit of the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, at the office of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta, on Thursday (29/1/2026).

During the meeting, the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment held a direct discussion with the Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, on policy directions and targets for strengthening the creative industry in 2026. The coordination also addressed the challenge of limited budget allocations, which are considered to still constrain the scope of government intervention in accelerating the development of the creative economy sector on a more massive scale.

“We strongly hope and will continue to convince the President and the Minister of Finance so that the intervention budget for the Ministry of Creative Economy can be expanded further. The allocation should increase in line with actual needs, and most importantly, the interventions can be more massive. At the same time, the focus on local intellectual property (IP) can be elevated to the national level, and those already at the national level can go global. This applies not only to IP, but also to the development of larger-scale industries,” said Muhaimin Iskandar.

On the same occasion, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that over the past year, the presence of the Ministry of Creative Economy has delivered tangible contributions to the increase of national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He emphasized that the targets for creative economy development, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto in the 2025 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), have not only been achieved but have also exceeded expectations.

These positive achievements are reflected in investment and employment data. Based on data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), realized investment in the creative economy sector in the first semester of 2025 reached 66 percent, or Rp90.12 trillion, of the total investment target of Rp123.9–136.3 trillion. Meanwhile, data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that employment in the creative economy sector reached 27.4 million people, surpassing the 2025 RPJMN target of 25.55 million people.

“It can be clearly seen that Indonesia’s creative economy is not going to become, but has already become, a new engine of the national economy. The creativity of the nation’s talents is deeply rooted in strong cultural foundations, and therefore only requires an additional touch of technological innovation in this digital era, so that local heroes can level up to the national and even international stage,” explained the Minister of Creative Economy.

Furthermore, the Minister of Creative Economy also revealed plans to strengthen financing through the People’s Business Credit (KUR) for intellectual property-based creative industries in 2026, with a ceiling of up to Rp10 trillion. This scheme allows creative industry players to obtain loans ranging from Rp100 million to Rp500 million per entrepreneur, with intellectual property currently serving as supporting collateral. This initiative is expected to facilitate access to financing, strengthen the creative ecosystem, and encourage the emergence of high-quality, competitive intellectual properties.

“Although currently it serves only as supporting collateral, it can already be utilized and makes it much easier for IP owners to apply for KUR at banks,” he added.
