Jakarta, May 6, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency continues to strengthen the role of the creative economy as a pillar of national economic growth through the launch of The 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026. Through this forum, Indonesia is also preparing the Jakarta Vision for Creative Economy document as a foundation for shaping global policy agendas in the creative economy.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, delivered his remarks at the launch event of The 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026, held at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, Wednesday (May 6, 2026).
“Since its inception, WCCE has not only served as a discussion forum, but also as a platform to formulate international policy agendas. Its focus is to ensure that the creative economy becomes a global priority with measurable outcomes,” said the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, during the launch event.
The launch was attended by 27 representatives from ministries/agencies, 70 representatives from business associations, and 48 media representatives. It also involved international organizations such as the British Council and the US-ASEAN Business Council, as well as representatives from partner countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, and Russia.
The conference will take place on October 21–23, 2026, at Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Kemayoran, and is expected to involve around 80 countries. This forum will bring together governments, international organizations, industry players, academics, communities, and investors on a single platform that integrates policy formulation and business collaboration.

Since its first implementation in 2018, WCCE has contributed to the establishment of two United Nations resolutions in 2019 and 2023. In the 2026 edition, Indonesia targets the formulation of the Jakarta Vision for Creative Economy as the basis for proposing a subsequent resolution at the United Nations General Assembly.
“The Jakarta Vision document will be formulated collaboratively with participating countries and is intended to become the next resolution at the United Nations, thereby strengthening the global policy foundation for the creative economy,” the Minister added.
The performance of the national creative economy sector serves as the basis for strengthening Indonesia’s position in this forum. In 2024, the sector contributed Rp1,611.15 trillion, or 7.28% of the national Gross Domestic Product. In 2025, its key achievements include :
exports amounting to USD 31.94 billion
Investment reaching Rp183.01 trillion
Employment absorption of 27.4 million workers.
These figures form the foundation for achieving a targeted contribution of 8.0–8.4% to GDP by 2029, while also strengthening Indonesia’s position in creative economy diplomacy.

WCCE 2026 carries the theme “Inclusively Creative: Collective Continuity” through a collaborative cross-sector approach that integrates policy forums, bilateral meetings, and business matching to generate concrete agreements and partnerships.
One of its main components is Creativillage, a space that integrates exhibitions, business interactions, and industry activations connected to Screenverse and KultKreo.
Screenverse is an integrated international-scale platform that connects the ecosystem of screen-based industries such as film, series, games, streaming, and digital content within a collaborative space that brings together creators, studios, platforms, and investors to drive investment and the global distribution of works.

Meanwhile, KultKreo focuses on strengthening creative economy talent based on Intellectual Property (IP) through content development, copyright protection, and expanded market access, particularly in the fashion, music, and popular culture subsectors.
Acting Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy, Dian Permanasari, added that the forum also facilitates bilateral meetings and cross-country business matching to accelerate the realization of cooperation.
“Through government-to-government and business-to-business meeting schemes, WCCE provides a platform for collaborations that can be directly followed up,” she said.
WCCE 2026 is part of the National Creative Economy Day (Hekrafnas) series, which activates creative economy initiatives across regions nationwide.
