This document, supported by 38 heads of delegations from various countries, will be taken to New York to be presented at a United Nations (UN) forum. The Ministry of Creative Economy, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will subsequently advocate for the document’s adoption as part of the update to the 2023 UN resolution, which is scheduled for the end of this year.

“I hope the Jakarta Vision on the Creative Economy can capture the essence of the creative economy we aim to realize together. This is Indonesia’s contribution to strengthening the creative economy at the global level. It is with pride that the Indonesian government, under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, has successfully produced a document that will contribute to the development of the global creative economy,” said Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski in Jakarta on Thursday (October 22).

The Jakarta Vision on Creative Economy outlines four main pillars as the foundation for the development of the global creative economy.

The first pillar emphasizes the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) while keeping people at the center of creative economy development. The use of AI must also be supported by sound governance (AI governance). The second pillar covers the application of circular economy principles, regenerative design, and sustainable design to strengthen the role of the creative economy in maintaining the balance of nature and the environment. The third pillar focuses on developing an inclusive creative ecosystem and empowering communities. Meanwhile, the fourth pillar emphasizes the protection of intellectual property (IP) and creators’ rights, as well as the application of fair economic principles so that the benefits of the creative economy can be felt by its practitioners worldwide.

“Currently, the global creative economy is undergoing significant changes. Rapid technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, are also bringing about changes in the creative economy sector. As policymakers in the creative economy, we need to strengthen collaboration and cooperation to develop the creative economy sector and enhance its role as a driver of sustainable economic growth, innovation, and cultural development,” explained the Minister of Creative Economy.

The drafting of the Jakarta Vision on the Creative Economy has gone through a series of stages, ranging from inter-ministerial coordination, the involvement of local governments, and consultations with representatives of partner countries and international organizations, to gathering input from creative economy stakeholders through FCE Square.

During the WCCE 2026 series of events, this document was further discussed at the Friends of Creative Economy (FCE) Meeting to gather perspectives and align the direction of global creative economy development. The results of these discussions were then presented at the WCCE 2026 Ministerial Meeting and agreed upon as a shared vision for the development of the global creative economy.
